Area Code 667 History and Coverage

Area code 667 was put into effect in 2012 as the third number of the 410/443 numbering plan area in Maryland. Prior to being added, there had been previous changes made to the numbering plan in the state. In 1991, 410 was split from 301 by splitting the eastern part of Maryland from the western and southern parts of the state. Area code 443 was then introduced as an overlay area in 1997 for the 410 region, instead of having another geographic region set up for 443.

The region includes a wide range of Maryland’s geography. Areas included in the northern part of the region include Harford and Cecil Counties in Maryland close to the border of the state with Pennsylvania at the Susquehanna River. Other locations included in the numbering territory include Kent Island, Talbot County, Dorchester County, Wicomico County, and Worcester County. The geographical region includes working waterfronts, agricultural communities, road connections, and seasonal coastal communities.
