Area Code 521 History and Coverage
Area code 521 went into service on September 21, 2017, having been allocated as part of the expanding 5XX non-geographic numbering resource. In May 2012, NANP planning identified area codes 521 and the rest of the 5XX series as an addition to the numbering resources known as 5YY personal communications codes. Later, the designation was widened to include additional non-geographic uses, as well as those using fixed and mobile telephones, and even those using machine-to-machine services.
